(1900 - 1981) Very early member of the Nazi Party. A journalist, Esser was the editor of the Nazi paper, Völkischer Beobachter, and a Nazi member of the Reichstag, besides being a de facto deputy of Adolf Hitler. Lot of two rare signed items, includes an early portrait photo, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" b/w, signed at bottom in black ink: "Hermann Esser". The verso bears his holograph inscription: "Mrs. Füschlberger with many thanks for the 'Easter Bunny' 7.4.1926". Also present is an example of a very rare partly-printed membership card in the "Grossdeutsche Volksgemeinschaft e.V.", issued on Oct. 4 3/4" x 3 3/4", issued on Oct. 6, 1924 and bearing Esser's stamped signature at lower-left. Some contribution and donation stamps are affixed to verso. Both piece in fine condition. The Grossdeutsche Volksgemeinschaft e.V. was a replacement organization for the banned NSDAP, founded on January 15, 1924 and dissolved on March 12, 1925, making this card excessively rare!
