(1813 - 1873) Confederate Secretary of the Navy. Rare, fine content war-date D.S. on Navy department letterhead, 1p. 4to., Sep. 20, 1864, a warrant to the Treasury Department ordering that $20,000 be issued to Paymaster T. G. Ridgely of the Provisional Navy of the Confederate States to be used "For pay of the Navy". Boldly signed by Mallory at bottom. One corner clipped causing no loss of text, folds and an interior tear (repaired) affecting nothing, still overall very good.
