In part: "...F/O Henneberg was attacked by an ME 109. I fired a burst and ME began to smoke and draw away. I followed and firing a long burst...set him on fire. File hole at top, else fine. "Battle of Britain Day" is the name given to the day of the large-scale aerial battle that took place on Sep. 15, 1940, during the Battle of Britain. The Luftwaffe embarked on an all-out attack against London with approx. 1,500 taking part in battles which lasted until dusk. German losses in the climactic battle forced Hitler to postpone Operation Sea Lion, and the Luftwaffe turned its attention to "The Blitz" night campaign which lasted until May 1941. Zumbach is a joint leading character in the films "Mission of Honor" (U.S.) and Hurricane (U.K.).
