Great document signed by 68 members of the 509th Composite Group, the unit tasked with delivery of atomic bombs to Japanese cities. The document is a 6pp. 4to. color copy of the Sep. 27, 1945 order awarding the "Bronze Star to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon for participation in the Eastern Mandates Campaign". The top of the first page is signed by the unit's commander PAUL TIBBETS who adds "509TH C.O." and by his fellow Enola Gay crewman RICHARD NELSON. Other signers include Bockscar (Nagasaki mission) pilot CHARLES W. SWEENEY, CHARLES D. ALBURY, and FRED OLIVI, with most of the rest of the signers serving as crewmen on supporting aircraft (ie: weather, cameras, and back-up) for the Hiroshima and Nagasaki missions. An important grouping, in fine condition.
