(1889 - 1945) Fuhrer of Germany and Nazi Party leader, Hitler's bloody rise to power, his military seizure of most of Europe and North Africa and his genocidal racial policies culminated in suicide in his Berlin bunker as Russian troops approached. Important partly-printed D.S., 1p. sm. folio, Berlin, Oct. 1, 1935, the promotion of Major of the General Staff Gerhard Berthold to the rank of Oberstleutnant. Co-signed at bottom by WERNER VON BLOMBERG (1878-1946), Minister of Defense and Supreme Commander of the German Armies. With blind-embossed seal, fine condition. GERHARD BERTHOLD (1891-1942) would command several German divisions, principally in the east, and was a recipient of the Knight's Cross. He was killed on 14 April 1942 in Yukhnov, Russia and was posthumously promoted to Generalleutnant.
