(1878 – 1961) Welsh painter and etcher, an important exponent of Post-Impressionism, celebrated first for his brilliant figure drawings, and then for a new technique of oil sketching. His work was favorably compared in London with that of Gauguin and Matisse. A.L.S., 1p. 4to., London, [n.d.], to a "Mr. Potter". In part: "...I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Shere. It is a wonderful spot and I'm convinced I'll have to return there...Tresco is an ideal cottage. I felt at once at home in it..." Fine condition, double-matted with a portrait and set into a wood frame.
