(1754 - 1835) Soldier and politician. Tallmadge, as chief of Washington's intelligence operations during the Revolutionary War helped uncover the André-Arnold plot in 1780. Signed publication, "An Oration Spoken at Hartford, In the State of Connecticut, On the Anniversary of American Independence", by Federalist politician Theodore Dwight (Hartford: Hudson and Goodwin), 1798, 31pp. 8vo. Tallmadge signs at the top right corner of the front cover in black ink, adding a dedication to lawyer Daniel Everett above. The dedication is faded and illegible in spots, and the pamphlet as a whole shows damp stains, foxing, and chips to the page edges, with the ownership signatures of Everett on the back cover and a later owner twice on the front cover, else very good.
