(1895 – 1976) American film director and musical choreographer. Berkeley devised elaborate musical production numbers that often involved complex geometric patterns. His works used large numbers of showgirls and props as fantasy elements in kaleidoscopic on-screen performances. A.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Palm Desert, Mar. 13, 1963 to Sheldon Abend of the American Play Co. In part: "...After three months of intensive work trying to create an interest in Wedding Ring and Universal Station for pictures, I have not had success. Important producers and even executives...admire the stories [but] do not feel they want to make a picture of either...As my option has expired I am mailing you...4 books...hoping that we may do some business in the future..." Evenly toned, else very good.
