(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Fine content and association T.L.S. "D.E.", 1p. 4to., Palm Desert, Feb. 19, 1965, to Dr. and Mrs. J. Holt McCracken. On January 30, Eisenhower delivered a personal tribute to British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill at his state funeral at St. Paul's Cathedral. He writes here, in part: "I am, of course, complimented by your comments on my tribute to the memory of Sir Winston. We will not see his like again..." He closes by expressing his anticipation of his correspondents' next visit, and signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else fine. Sold with the original transmittal envelope, as well as a personal copy of his tribute to Churchill.
