(1891 - 1944) German field marshal whose Afrika Corps threw back repeated British and American assaults in North Africa, later he defended Normandy and ultimately was forced to commit suicide due to his implication in the Hitler bomb plot. Rare A.L.S. "Rommel General", 1p. 4to., [n.p.], Jan. 16, 1940 in pencil. Rommel writes to E. S. Mittler & Sohn, the publishers of his: "Problems for the Platoon and Company" acknowledging receipt of their letter from January 13th. Fine condition, and rare in A.L.S. with his full last name. Sold with a war-date Willrich print of Rommel, 16mo., fine. Two pieces.
