(1809 - 1847) German composer of symphonies, concertos, and operas, well known for his overture "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Scarce A.L.S. with integral address leaf, 1p. 11 1/4" x 9", Leipzig, Oct. 4, 1836 in German to Diabelli's Music Shop in Vienna. Mendelssohn asks if the firm possesses Ferdinand Ries' "Symphony in A Minor" which he wishes to perform at a subscription concert, and if it is available, he promises that he will undertake all expenses. Old tape stains affects four words and also appears at margins, right margin chipped, signature not affected. With translation.
