(1739 - 1813) Signer of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, a member of the Continental Congress and the 1st Congress. A.D.S., 1p. 12mo., [n.p.], Sep. 7, 1802, a sight draft for $1,450 issued to SAMUEL MEREDITH, who has also signed at bottom and again on verso. Faded, with punch cancel which affects noting apparent at bottom. Samuel Meredith (1741–1817), a Philadelphia merchant, was a delegate for Pennsylvania to the Continental Congress from 1786 to 1788. Washington appointed him Treasurer of the United States, and he held this office from 1789 until his retirement in 1801.
