(1726 - 1806) American jurist and statesman, a Virginia Signer of the Declaration of Independence who taught law to Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall and Henry Clay. A.E.S. removed from the conclusion of a legal document, 1p. 7 3/4" x 3 1/4", [n.p., but likely Culpepper County, Va.], in full (in his variant hand): "The injunction is awarded on the usual terms, 26 Januar', 1801 G. Wythe." Slightly ragged bottom easily excised, slight soiling, else very good.
