(1737-1793) American Revolutionary politician and first signer of the Declaration of Independence, President of the Continental Congress and two-time Governor of Massachusetts. Partly-printed D.S. "John Hancock", 1p. 6 1/2" x 2 3/4", [n.p., n.d., likely Boston, 1766-67]. Hancock boldly endorses the verso of a sight draft issued by Nicholas Churchill in St. Johns, Newfoundland, Nov. 18, 1766 in the amount of 27 pounds, issued to Peter Prim. The note is also endorsed by Boston loyalist, shipowner and merchant Henry Atkins, as well as by Peter Prim, a trader. Near fine. Ex: Kenneth Rendell, ca. 1960-67.
