(1729 - 1795) Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and grandson of William Penn, he was a Loyalist during the Revolution and consequently lost most control over his holdings. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 4to., Philadelphia, April 2, 1776, allowing one Gilbert Bartley to purchase 250 acres of land in Nittany Valley. Penn signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Countersigned by two other individuals and docketed on the verso, shows folds with slight splits, else very good.
