Large monochrome lithograph portrait, 12" x 17", a waist-up of view of colonel ELMER E. ELLSWORTH (1837-1861) of the 1st Regiment New York Fire Zouaves, a close friend of Lincoln who was killed by a hotel owner in Alexandria after tearing down a Confederate flag which had flown above the hotel. The line "Pub'd. by Currier & Ives 152 Nassau St. N.Y." appears beneath the title and caption at bottom. Shows folds, tears and spots of soiling overall, in fair to good condition. Estimated accordingly.
