Ruled "Konto-Buch" ("account book"), approx. 200pp. 8vo., inscribed inside the cover as belonging to a Jewish resident of Berlin, Arthur Jachmann, adding the stereotypical middle name "Israel" dictated by law under the Third Reich. The book tabulates Jachmann's transactions with Dresdner Bank, and also his postal expenses and what appears to be payroll accounts for a Lucie Freidlander. The entries date from approximately July of 1939 to March of 1942. We have located a citizen of Berlin named Arthur Jachmann in the roster of holocaust victims maintained by Yad Vashem, whose records show that he was deported from Berlin to the Theresienstadt concentration camp in November of 1942, and from there to Auschwitz in May of 1944, where he was subsequently murdered. The book shows expected wear to the covers and slight interior toning, else very good.
