Sobering pair of D.S’s, both 1p. 8vo., both receipts issued by Jewish businesses providing forced labor in Polish ghettos. The first was issued by the firm of J. Israelowicz, a purveyor of paint, olive oil, turpentine and similar goods in the Czestochowa ghetto, dated June 18, 1942. The second was issued by “Eisenwaren Handlung [Hardware Store] Sch. Grunfeld”, trustee Franz Jahn, of the Krakow ghetto, dated Jan 22. 1942. Both record transactions for goods in Polish, untranslated by us. Both show original file holes at the top edge and some toning, else very good.
