ERWIN J. ROMMEL (1891 - 1944) German field marshal whose Afrika Corps threw back repeated British and American assaults in North Africa, later he defended Normandy and ultimately was forced to commit suicide due to his implication in the Hitler bomb plot. Excellent S.P. "Rommel", 7" x 9 1/2" b/w, a chest-up Hoffmann portrait of Rommel in uniform with his Knight's Cross and Pour le Merite at his throat. He executes his bold signature in graphite in the border beneath the image. Shows a crease to the top left corner, with the slightest brushing to the signature, else in fine condition. With James Spence letter of authenticity.
