Excellent German photograph album, 13" x 10" overall, containing about 100 original photographs of various sizes, most 3" x 5" or larger. The photos seem to track perhaps the first year of a young man's military career, specifically concentrating on the recovery of unexploded ordnance. The first few dozen photos show the unidentified soldier in DAF and Luftwaffe uniform, in one image with an aerial bomb hoisted upon his shoulder. The balance of the photos show the recovery of bombs in various locations by soldiers, civilians and P.O.W.s dressed in striped camp uniforms. Fascinating images show search efforts in rural and city settings, probing for bombs, deep trenches and pits from which bombs are extracted, charges placed to explode bombs in situ, bones of a body found in one site, and much more in these very detailed photos. Fine condition.
