(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Excellent war-date I.S.P., 6 1/2" x 8 3/4", a chest-up view of Eisenhower in uniform as a four-star general. Eisenhower signs at bottom in black ink, adding the inscription: "To: Lieut. L.J. Hansen Co-pilot of the plane that has carried me many miles in this theater. Africa. 1943." Shows slight folds, with the signature a tad light, else very good. LAURENCE J. HANSEN (b. 1917) served as Eisenhower's private pilot from 1942 through, 1946, rising to the rank of lieutenant-colonel, and later published a book detailing his experiences, "What it Was Like Flying For 'Ike'". Also present is the official program for the January, 1957 inauguration of Eisenhower and his vice-president, Richard Nixon, 48pp. 4to., in its original envelope, and in fine condition. Two pieces.
