Important content partly-printed D.S. on official "Supreme SS and Chief Police Investigator" letterhead which is also stamped "Secret!", 1p. oblong 8vo., Munich, Sep. 28, 1944, being confirmation of the death sentence to be imposed upon Sergeant Major of Police Viktor Bergman, sent to the personnel office of Vienna Reichsleiter BALDUR VON SCHIRACH. It relates that Bergman , born Nov. 19, 1898, had been sentenced to death by a field unit of the Supreme SS and Police Court on April 27, 1944 and it had been confirmed on August 20, 1944. The Reichsfuhrer-SS [Heinrich Himmler] had declined to show any leniency and the execution was carried through on August 30, 1944 at 7:00 AM at Dachau. File holes, else very good. VIKTOR BERGMAN (1898-1944) was arrested in February, 1944 for supplying addresses to the anti-Hitler movement in Austria. He and 19 other Austrian policemen who were executed by the Nazis are today remembered on a plaque located in the entrance hall in Vienna's Federal Police Headquarters.
