(1888 – 1954) German general during World War II who rose to army-level command. Lemelsen took part in the invasion of Poland where his division was involved in the Massacre in Ciepielów. On 28 May 1940 he was given command of the 5th Panzer Division with which he assaulted Dunkirk. Later that year, his XLVII Motorized Corps, which he led in the Battle of Smolensk and the Battle of Kiev, also executed the criminal "Commissar Order". Scarce D.S. as commanding general of XXXXVII Panzerkorps, 1p. 8vo., Aug. 2, 1941, the award on an Iron Cross, 1st Class to Pioniere Oberfeldw. Willi Zink. File holes in left margin, else fine.
