Historic lot of seven telex printouts of dispatches sent from London, Moscow, Stockholm, and New York with reports on events in the last few days of the European phase of World War II, specifically April 28-29, 1945. News includes accounts of Himmler’s attempts to negotiate peace through Swedish Count Bernadotte, offering the lives of Jews in trade and excluding Russia; the refusal of the American government to comment and insistence on unconditional surrender; Himmler’s claim that surrender would cause Hitler’s nervous collapse and death; a report of Hitler having a cerebral hemorrhage; Russians closing in on the Chancellery; and a lengthy narrative on massive German surrenders, the approach upon the Reichstag, and a report that the “Nazi overlords” were being led in battle personally by Hitler himself. Overall near fine condition.
