(1880 - 1964) American general and Allied Supreme Commander in the Pacific in World War II, accepted the surrender of Japan and was later dismissed by Truman for advocating an invasion of China. Fine D.S., 1p. 8" x 9 1/2" (sight), a printed copy of the surrender of Japanese forces to Gen. Joseph Stilwell on Sep. 7, 1945 with facsimile signatures of Stilwell, Lt. Gen. Toshiro Nomi, Major Gen. Toshisada Takada and Rear Adm. Tadao Kato. In his later years, MacArthur placed his blue ink signature at the bottom of the surrender. Fine condition, double matted with a Tenth Army shoulder patch.
