(1884 -1972) One-time German chief of staff until transferred to the reserves by Hitler due to policy disputes. Suspected of plotting against Hitler's life in 1944, he was interned at Flossenburg until his rescue by the Allies. Good association signed item, a Christmas greeting card to an unnamed recipient, 2pp. 4to., Konigstein, Dec. 1948, illustrated with an original lithograph depicting the town of Konigstein, as identified in pencil beneath the image. Affixed to this print by a paper hinge is a second sheet bearing the handwritten salutation: "Best Wishes for a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year". Halder signs boldly beneath this message in black ink, adding his rank "Generaloberst". The piece is further signed by eight additional individuals, all former high-ranking officers of the German military, although all are unidentified but for Wehrmacht general HANS VON GREIFFENBERG (1893-1951) and Kriegsmarine vice-admiral LEOPOLD BUTTNER. Shows notable damp stains to both leaves, else very good.
