T.L.S. on "Higher SS and Police Leader" letterhead, 1p. 4to., Vienna, Nov. 5, 1940 to HEINRICH HIMMLER. The letter bears multiple underlined sections, initialed dockets, and stamps, with file holes at left. KARL RETZLAFF (1890-1967) was a lieutenant general of the police and SS-Gruppenf├╝hrer in Vienna. From the beginning of September 1943 to January 1945 he was commander of the Ordnungspolizei (BdO) in Hamburg and was subordinated in this capacity to the Higher SS and Police Leader Georg-Henning Count von Bassewitz-Behr . As SS leader he belonged to the staff of the upper section North Sea (Hamburg).
