(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the SS and Gestapo placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremberg. Good association T.L.S. on his official SS letterhead, 1p. 4to., [In the field], June 30, 1942 to SS-Oberfuhrer Oberst der Polizei Erwin Schulz in Berlin. Shortly after Schulz's return from Poland where he led the massacres of thousands of Jews, Himmler instructs: "...With immediate effect I hereby instruct you to conduct Group IA of the [RSHA]...and at the same time appoint you to inspect the schools of the Security Police and the SD..." Fine. ERWIN SCHULZ (1900-1981) was an SS officer and member of the Gestapo. He was the leader of Einsatzkommando 5, part of Einsatzgruppe C which operated in the occupied territories of south-eastern Poland and the Ukraine committing mass killings of civilian population, mostly of Jewish ethnicity largely at Lvov, Zhytomyr, Dubno and Berdychiv.
