(1891 - 1944) German field marshal whose Afrika Corps threw back repeated British and American assaults in North Africa, later he defended Normandy and ultimately was forced to commit suicide due to his implication in the Hitler bomb plot. A.L.S. "Erwin" and signed again "Rommel" in the address portion of a postcard sent to his wife, 2pp. 12mo., Ober-Krummhuebel, 1936. Rommel pens a message in the blank area of the postcard, concluding with five more lines on the lighter areas of the picture side of the card. He writes: "Many thanks for your dear letter. It is hard to understand how my first card could reach you so late. In the meantime, a further card and letter have been dispatched..." Fine condition. With ersatz Afrika Korps cuff title and repro photo.
