Good lot of three war-date U.S. Navy navigation maps, includes: map of the Baltic coast of Germany, 34 1/4" x 27 3/4", specifically depicting the approaches to the vital naval port of Kiel. The map is a U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office copy of a British Admiralty chart first issued in 1930, and is designated "Emergency Reproduction of B.A. Chart - Aug. 1941; Jan. 1943", the latter date indicating the year of printing for this specific example. Shows a horizontal and vertical fold, else very good. WITH: map of the North Atlantic Ocean, 37 1/2" x 34", produced by the U.S. Navy Hydrographic office, with the last update listed as being made in September of 1943. This map would have been universally carried aboard Navy and merchant ships comprising convoys sailing between the United States and the European Theater. Shows a horizontal and some vertical folds with some soiling, else very good. WITH: map of Borneo, Sumatra and Java, 33" x 39 1/2", produced by the U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office, with their red ink stamp at lower right indicating a date of issue in September of 1942. At the time of issue, all three islands were under Japanese occupation, with Sumatra and Java having just been conquered in the spring of 1942. Parts of the Malay Peninsula and Thailand are also shown, territories also held by Japan at the time. Shows a horizontal and vertical fold, else very good. Three pieces.
