(1885 - 1945) "Old Blood and Guts" was one of the finest tank commanders in history, rolling his forces through Tunesia, Sicily, France and Germany until halted at the Rhine. A rare twice-signed book from Patton's library, "Sir Martin Frobisher," by William McFee (London: John Lane The Bodly Head, Ltd.), 1928. 276pp. 4to., in blue cloth with gold lettering and blind stamped decoration. Patton has signed the front flyleaf, dating it "Nov. 1928", and has added his signature to the front cover as well. Light foxing to a few papers, else very good, in custom clam shell box. This biography probably impressed Patton a great deal. Martin Frobisher (1535–1594) was an English seaman and privateer who made three voyages to the New World looking for the North-west Passage. He returned to England with tons of ore, much of it useless iron pyrite, before he turned to privateering and attacked French vessels.
