(1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Fine association signed and addressed envelope, Eisenhower's "Chief of Staff Washington" envelope addressed by him to "Lt. Kay Summersby Hqrs. U.S. Forces Germany" and signed by him at upper-left. In November 1945, Eisenhower returned to Washington to replace George Marshall as Chief of Staff of the Army. The envelope also has a note on the face from Eisenhower's aide, Lt. Col. James Stack, asking that Summersby be given the envelope immediately. Eisenhower broke ties with Summersby at war's end, though rumors persisted that the couple had had a romantic affair. Fine.
