(1894 - 1987) Nazi German Deputy Fuehrer and second in command after Goering, Hess was one of Hitler's closest confidantes and friends. In an unauthorized peace mission, Hess flew a German fighter to England and surrendered, purportedly attempting to ally Germany with Great Britain against Russia. His mission, of course, failed and Hess was imprisoned at Spandau where he was found hanged in 1987. Good content T.L.S. on his personal NSDAP letterhead, 1p. 4to., Munich, Sep. 21, 1936 to HANS LAMMERS (1879–1962), State Secretary and Chief of the Reichs Chancellery. In this letter which is headed "Law on Administration of Oath of Office by Party Court", Hess sends instructions for final approval. In part: "...I am sending the Law, which was adopted as per resolution, signed by the Reichs Minister of Justice and me, with a letter of the Reichs Minister of Justice...in which you are requested to submit the authentic copy to the Fuhrer and Reichs Chancellor for signing and then send it to the editors of the Reichs Law Register...and Prussian Ministry of the Interior for publication..." Bears a superb, dark signature at conclusion. Trimmed at left margin, docketed at top, near fine. Ex: Kenneth Rendell.
