Very rare postcard letter sent from the infamous Majdanek/Lublin extermination camp, Dec. 1, 1943 The postcard was sent by prisoner Bryo Sheerystaw[?] to a friend in Lukow on Dec. 3, 1943. He notes "K. L. Majdanek" in his return address and the card is also stamped "K. L. Lublin" The verso bears a message area with, surprisingly, no instruction for the prisoners. The prisoner writes a single line, possibly referring to a package, and signs. Overall very good. A censor stamp appears beneath the text. By November 1943, the last Jewish prisoners of the Majdanek system of subcamps were massacred by the firing squads of Trawniki men during Operation "Harvest Festival." With respect to main camp at Majdanek, the most notorious executions occurred on November 3, 1943, when 18,400 Jews were killed on a single day.
