Fine grouping of 22 original 9" x 7 1/4" montage photos charting the travels and postings of the U.S. Army Air Force's 10th Reconnaissance Group through Europe, from their arrival in Britain to the occupation of Germany. The first two photos of the series replicate the Group's souvenir "battle map", while each of the remaining 20 image is dedicated to a specific posting in Europe, including London, Normandy, Rennes, Paris, Versailles, St. Dizier, Metz, Trier, Mainz and Nuremberg. Each image combines numerous intriguing scenes including the Group's P-38's and P-51's, ruined towns, French Resistance fighters, a captured German bomber, pretty French girls, their various camps, heavy mud at the Marne, various monuments and famous tourist sites, winter conditions during the "Bulge", pristine juxtaposed with ruined German cities, captured souvenirs, and more. An unusual method of commemorating a unit, quite unlike other souvenirs we have seen. Shows slight fading and discoloration, else very good. Consigned by the son of an official photographer for the 31st Squadron with the 10th Photo Reconnaissance Group, who almost certainly took and compiled the images presented here.
