(1898 – 1943) German admiral and commander of the Kriegsmarine's destroyer forces who also commanded the battleship Scharnhorst in the Battle of the North Cape on Dec. 26, 1943, during which the German ship was sunk and Bey was killed during that action. A Knights Cross recipient. Rare war-date D.S. as Commander of Destroyer Forces, 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Sep. 1, 1941, the award of the Destroyer War Badge to Mtr. Gefr. Wilhelm Dahnke serving aboard the destroyer HANS LODY. File holes else near fine condition. The HANS LODY had a distinguished career. Dahnke's badge was likely awarded in connection with the sinking of three Soviet warships in Norway.
