Fallschirmjager document grouping of Jager Karl-Heinz Otto of 5./Jg. Fallsch. Rgt., includes chronologically: Luftpost postcard sent by the district army command to Otto, August 17, 1943 and signed by a major ordering him to present himself for a meeting; similar postcard sent from Luftwaffe command, Berlin, April 23, 1944 advising Otto that he is not suitable for a pilot's position; and an award certificate for the Wound Badge in Black issued to the determined soldier, 1p. 8vo., Baumholder, July 27, 1944 for a wound received on June 7, 1944, signed by an army medical officer. Some wear to the postcards, one chipped, else very good. Fallschirmjager Regiment 5 was located on the Cotentin Peninsula in the Avranches area. On June 8, an advance detachment arrived at Avranches, thus Otto must have been wounded in an air strafing or bombing attack the day after the Normandy landings.
