Hand-painted condolence card prepared for the friends and family of a deceased SS soldier, 9 1/2" x 12", displays an oak leaf wreath with SS runes at top. It reads at top: "I had a comrade..." and refers to the death of SS Schutze Adolf Nass, June 7, 1944 "...in silent sympathy Dondangen June 10, 1944 Central Construction Department, Waffen-SS, Seelager Lettland..." Signed by eleven of the man's comrades. In only fair condition with margins wrinkled and torn, the document soiled and with scattered spotting. The "Seelager" Dondangen facility was used to train Waffen-SS troops. It was located at the tip of the Kurland peninsula.
