(1847 - 1934) German general and politician, crushed the Russians at Tannenburg and in Poland, forced to yield the Chancellor's office to Hitler in 1933. Fine content partly-printed D.S. as Reichspresident, 2pp. large 4to., Berlin, Jan. 1, 1927, a list of eight appointments and promotions including HELLMUTH FELMY (1885-1965) to the General Staff of Infanteriefuhrers V; EDUARD HAUSER (1895–1961), to the staff of the 7th (Bavarian) Division, and also two physicians. Also signed by Minister of Defense OTTO GESSLER (1875–1955) who was later implicated in the July 20 plot, detained and was tortured at Ravensbrück concentration camp and then held at various Berlin prisons until his release in February 1945. Folds, else fine.
