(1847 - 1934) German general and politician, crushed the Russians at Tannenburg and in Poland, forced to yield the Chancellor's office to Hitler in 1933. Partly-printed D.S. as Reichspresident, 1p. large 4to., Berlin, Aug. 1, 1927, two promotions of doctors in "Sanitats-Abteilung" departments. Also signed by Minister of Defense OTTO GESSLER (1875–1955) who was later implicated in the July 20 plot, detained and was tortured at Ravensbrück concentration camp and then held at various Berlin prisons until his release in February 1945, and by Chief of Army Command WILHELM HEYE (1869-1947). Folds, else fine.
