Good lot of three items signed by U.S. fighter aces of World War II, includes: JOHN T. BLACKBURN (1912-1994), U.S. Navy fighter ace and commander of the famed F4U Corsair squadron VF-17 Jolly Rogers. Terse A.L.S. "Tom Blackburn", 1p. 8vo., Jacksonville, April 1, 1991, to a Mr. Stanhope, in full: "Why are you interested in my opinion(s)? What, in general, is your background and profession?" He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: JOHN J. VOLL (1922-1987), third-highest scoring P-51 Mustang ace of the war and the top American ace of the Mediterranean Theater. A.L.S. "Johnnie Voll", 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Sep. [n.d.], 1946, to a Mr. Cole. He informs his correspondent that he never received the Medal of Honor, but goes on to list his numerous other rewards. He signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good. WITH: WALTER C. BECKHAM (1916-1996), Republic P-47 ace with 18 recorded victories. S.P., 8" x 10", a wartime view of Beckham standing by the tail of his aircraft. he signs vertically in black ink at top right. Signature slightly shaky, else very good.
