German passport issued on June 20, 1932 to Hermann Aron, a Jew born in Kassow on Apr. 11, 1905. At the time of issue, Aron lived in Eberswalde, just northeast of Berlin. This passport preceded the need to have a red "J" stamped on its cover or within, so that mark is not present. On Sep. 3, 1935 Aron paid some funds to a woman in Switzerland. On Mar 21, 1936 he was given a tourist entry visa by the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin. On May 13th, he exchanged money in Hamburg, probably as he sailed from Germany. On June 11, 1936 the immigration authorities in Santos stamped Aron's passport with an entry visa, and he is given permanent residency in Brazil on Aug. 24, 1945. Interestingly, a printed public announcement with the passport indicates that on Sep. 15, 1934 he was given power of attorney for the firm Salomon Goldtschmidt. After the war, a street was named commemorating Goldschmidt's memory.
