Rare book printed by the Third Army: "76, 3rd Army Internment Camp, Hohen-Asperg", by Cpl. Edward Bierman (Stuttgart: Hoffmannsche Buchdruckerei), 1945. 22pp., 8vo. A brief history of the fortress at Hohen-Asperg including a few pages about its past under the Nazis. The structures housed numerous Catholic, Social Democratic and Communist opponents of Hitler who were imprisoned and tortured there, and it also served as a transit camp for Gypsies en route to Auschwitz and other death camps. Post-war, the fortress became an internment camp for denazification and reeducation.
