(1879 - 1962) Minister and Chief of the Reich Chancellery, ordered arrested by Hitler in the final days, and ultimately sentenced to twenty years imprisonment for war crimes. Important content and good association T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, May 5, 1933, to Gauleiter of Hesse-Nassau JAKOB SPRENGER (1884-1945). In part: "I hereby have the honor to send you, on behalf of the Reich Chancellor, your certificate of appointment to the Reichsstathalter [Reich Governor] in Hesse [not present]. The Reich Chancellor has specially commissioned me to express to you his most sincere wishes for the successful work in your new office..." Lammers signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a few spots of light foxing and a horizontal fold, with a small split at the right edge, else very good.
