German M40 steel combat helmet, identifiable by its rolled rim and embossed vent holes. The exterior is painted with a "pinwheel" camouflage pattern of light and dark green on brown, likely added postwar, and bears a Heer decal on the left-hand side, showing a "sawtooth" pattern to the line edges identifying it as a digitally-printed reproduction. The left-hand interior skirt is heat-stamped "SE64", identifying the maker as Sachsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke of Lauter. The rear skirt is likewise heat-stamped "10029". The interior is also fitted with a light tan eight-fingered leather liner, secured within the shell by loose rivets indicating later replacement. The interior skirt also shows a well-worn painted name, likely also spuriously added. Offered as-is.
