Graphically striking French propaganda poster, 47" x 31", issued by the "Banque Industrielle de Chine" ("Industrial Bank of China") to advertise Frances fourth "emprunt" ("war loan") of World War I. The circa 1918 poster bears a vivid illustration of Marienne, the personification of France, burying a protesting German soldier with sacks of gold coins, each labeled as the proceeds from previous war loans. The ruins of Paris are visible in the background. A publishing line at bottom indicates release by a Paris printer. Backed with archival linen, shows original folds, minor toning to the folds and edges, and a small area of paper loss at the left edge filled in with paint on the backing, else very good.
