Vivid original propaganda poster, 47 3/4" x 34 1/2", advertising the national loan of 1920, which attempted to raise funds to restore war-torn France. The poster is illustrated with a large image of Marianne, the personification of France, standing among peasants in a field of grain, gesturing towards a city on the horizon and to the name of the loan and the exhortation "Subscribe". A banner beneath the image bears the name and address of the "Banque de Mulhouse" in Paris, with the name of a Paris printing firm at the bottom edge. Backed with archival linen, shows original mailing folds with minor splits thereto, with a few small areas of paper loss filled in with paint on the backing, else very good.
