(1900 - 1945) Hitler's Chief of the Gestapo, placed in charge of security and responsible for the construction and operation of extermination camps. He chose suicide rather than face a hangman's noose at Nuremberg. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. 4pp. 4to., Berlin, March 10, 1939, recommending the promotion of Gendarmerie major Fritz Schuberth to the rank of "Oberstleutnant" ("lieutenant colonel"). Himmler signs at the conclusion in black ink as a representative of his superior at the time, Reichsminister of the Interior Wilhelm Frick, whom Himmler would succeed in 1943. The interior pages bear Schuberth's typed records of birth, service, education, and political affiliation, and the bottom of the first page bears the approval stamp of the office of Fuhrer and Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler. Shows file holes at the left edge and a few small folds, else very good.
