DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (1890 - 1969) 34th President of the United States, Supreme Commander of Allied forces in Europe during World War II and largely responsible for the successful invasion on D-Day. Great war-date signed photograph with a wonderful association, 7" x 5" b/w, a three-quarter length standing image of DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER in uniform with his son JOHN S. D. EISENHOWER and his father-in-law, JOHN S. DOUD. The photo is captioned on the verso in an unknown hand: "Taken at Pentagon B'ld'g July - Washington DC 1945". With the original transmittal envelope addressed to MAMIE EISENHOWER (as "Mrs. D. D. Eisenhower" by her mother, Dwight's mother-in-law, ELIVERA DOUD. John S. D. Eisenhower (1922–2013) was also an Army officer, as well as a diplomat and military historian. His decorated military career spanned from before, during, and after his father's presidency, and he would retire a brigadier general after seeing combat duty in Korea. From 1969 to 1971, he served as U.S. Ambassador to Belgium under Nixon. John S. Doud was a retired executive and investor. Three generations signing the same photo!
