(1904 - 1942) "The Hangman", Nazi head of the dreaded SS and architect of the "Final Solution", his assassination in Prague caused severe reprisal actions, including the destruction of Lidice and murder of many of its inhabitants. Typed D.S., 1p. 4to., Berlin, May 2, 1942, granting Magdeburg police inspector Willi Luders a lifetime appointment to the civil service. Heydrich signs at the conclusion in black ink, on the behalf of Reich Minister of the Interior Wilhelm Frick. Shows faint fold with file holes at the left edge, else very good. Sold with three additional documents related to Luders' police career, including: Partly-printed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., Burg, April 1, 1929, a statement issued by the police academy in that locality, certifying that Luders can be employed as a police officer in the state security police. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by a police commander. WITH: Printed D.S., 1p. folio, Berlin, Jan. 30, 1944, a certificate promoting police inspector Luders to the rank of "Polizeioberinspektor" ("upper police inspector"). Signed at the conclusion in blue in by an unidentified official on the behalf of Reich Minister of the Interior Heinrich Himmler. Shows folds overall with a few tears to the left edge, and with file holes at the top and bottom edges, else very good. WITH: printed document (unsigned), 1p. 4to., a post-war mimeographed copy of the birth certificate of Luders' daughter, Margit, indicating that she was born at Dachau in 1944 while her father was employed there at the rank of SS-Obersturmfuhrer, although the duties he performed there are left unstated. The same page bears a copy of the death certificate of Luders' father, Alfred, indicating that he passed away in 1946 in Willi's hometown of Halberstadt. Very good. Four pieces.
